Midwifery Services

The Midwifery and Consequential Amendments Act was proclaimed June 12, 2000 making midwifery services available to Manitoba women. Midwives are trained health care professionals who provide care to women throughout pregnancy and birth, and continue to care for both mother and baby for six weeks after the baby's birth.

There is no cost for this service and women can choose a midwife without referral from another health care professional. All practicing midwives must be registered with the College of Midwives of Manitoba.

Women's Health Clinic is one of four community midwifery sites in Winnipeg.

For more information on how to access midwifery services in Winnipeg, please call (204) 947-2422, ext. 515.
