Families Connecting Group

Funded by the Healthy Baby Initiative, Families Connecting is an opportunity to meet other parents in the community and share and learn in a friendly atmosphere. The drop-in setting is informal and relaxing which allows sharing experiences and learning about things that are of interest.  All speakers, topics and activities are planned from suggestions by the parents who attend the group.

 Sherpa Mothers Mentoring Program

This program offers women experiencing a variety of postpartum adjustment issues, including post partum depression, with an opportunity to have regular telephone and/or in-person support from a trained volunteer peer support worker.

 

¨      The information you share will be kept confidential.

¨      You can expect the practical assistance and resource information of an   experienced mother.

¨      Volunteers have done both a Criminal, Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

¨      There is no cost to you.

THE BLUES AND BEYOND

Having a baby, whether by birth or adoption, changes everything.  If you are like most new mothers, your life is very different from what you imagined it would be.  You may feel emotions, including joy, happiness, confusion, anxiety, anger, sadness and tearfulness.

The Blues and Beyond group provides support to new mothers dealing with the unexpected feelings associated with motherhood stress including postpartum depression

Coping with Change

Coping with Change was developed by Women’s Health Clinic to build knowledge and support for community members and service providers regarding the emotional changes involved with parenting.

 

 Professionals: Train the Trainer

A day long seminar for mental health workers, Public Health Nurses, home visitors and other healthcare professionals working with new families.

The seminar will provide knowledge of how to  normalize a woman’s experience in facing the emotional changes after childbirth and to be able to deliver a full or partial coping with change program to your community.

Community Groups

Coping with Change is a 5-part series that can also be offered as individual session for community groups. Topics include but are not limited to; Birth Stories, Relationship Changes, Networking, Self-Care, and Emotional Adjustments.
