What are Physicians Profiles?
Physician Profiles contain important information about each physician practising medicine in
Manitoba. Currently this information is not consistently made available. Last year, the Coalition
released a report on current practices of the College of Physicians and Surgeons [CPS], available from Women’s Health Clinic. The CPS is granted authority by the Provincial Minister of Health to regulate the safe practice of medicine by physicians in Manitoba.Physician Profiles should include the following information:
- Education & Training
- Post Graduate Training and Certification
- Employment History
- Criminal Convictions
- Discipline or Censure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons
- Malpractice Information (Physicians would be required to report to the College any
malpractice judgements against them and any criminal convictions)
The Coalition believes that Physician Profiles should be made publicly and easily available to Manitobans using a variety of means, including Internet access and physicians having copies of their Physician Profiles available for patients in their offices.
If you would like to express your individual support for Physician Profiles in Manitoba, please write to:
The Hon. Dave Chomiak, Minister of Health
Room 302 - Legislative Building
Winnipeg, MB R3C 0V8
Be sure to send a copy of your letter to Madeline Boscoe at Women’s Health Clinic. top of page
