WOMEN'S HEATH CLINIC
commemorated 25 years with creation of poster and gift cards.
To
celebrate our 25th Anniversary; we’ve produced an eye-catching note
card and poster to highlight some of the achievements of our clinic.
WHC is proud to be able to offer both this unique note card and poster
for sale. Proceeds from the sale of the poster will go towards
the Women's Health Clinic Donation Fund. The Women's Health Clinic
Donation Fund
benefits all women’s health concerns locally and beyond. Income
from the Fund will support our community education, research and
action initiatives as well as ensure future support of innovative
woman-centred health education and policy change initiatives and
enhance access to WHC programs and services for Manitoba women.
The
Quilt is on display at Women’s Health Clinic.

Description of Poster
Printed on a single side and measures 41.9 cm x 68.6 cm (16.5” x 27”).
This breathtaking poster consists of a picture of WHC 25th
anniversary quilt and the following text. The poster has been designed
so that if the text is not required it can be cropped without affecting
the balance of the poster.
“The
making of the 25th anniversary WHC commemorative quilt became an
evolution of ideas and. From its conception to its completion, it
evolved piece-by-piece, stitch-by-stitch -
much like the evolution of the WHC over the past 25 years -
woman-to-woman connected by vision, passion and dedication.
The
colours are vibrant, energizing, exciting and passionate as has been the
journey of Women's
Health Clinic. The background colours are the 7 colours of the rainbow,
chosen to represent the diversity of the women we serve and the
connectedness and harmony achieved through our consensus decision-making
processes.
The 3
spirals represent maiden, mother and crone (or wise woman); they are
open and never ending as in the quest for and transference of knowledge
of women's
health through all stages of life. Spirals are symbols found in ancient
drawings that depict the wholeness of women's
life -
spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and cultural. And indeed, WHC
embraces a holistic approach to health care.
The
depiction of animals and plants emphasize the interdependence of the
diverse life in our environment. They provide medicine, sustenance,
learning, beauty and companionship (some might say
Afamiliars@
to the medicine woman.)
Each
symbol has meaning:
·
the
bird represents freedom to choose;
·
the
cat independence to control and govern our bodies;
·
the
turtle is a powerful totem symbolizing the connectedness of health and
spirit;
·
the
frog, its very existence an indicator of the health of our earth and
environment;
·
the
clover and sage, strong medicine to cleanse the body and spirit;
·
the
butterfly, symbolic of the metamorphosis of an idea that became the WHC;
·
the
snake, represents strength and flexibility and the Greek god of
medicine, Hermes;
·
the lizard was chosen because of quilters
'artistic license'
(we loved its colors and how well it accentuated that part of the
quilt.);
·
the
fish, a link in the chain between the mysteries in the depths of lakes
and oceans, and the understanding of how our health is connected to all
life forms;
·
our
shining silver woman with arms outstretched symbolizes the celebration
of 25 years of achievements in helping women;
·
our river represents the ebb and flow of the connecting life force of
women
- to adapt, learn, and grow, spirituality, physically, mentally
and in connection with one another.” top of page
Description of Note Card
Set
of 8 multipurpose Note Cards, includes white envelopes, and measures 10.2 cm x 12.7
cm (4” x 5”) side folded finished size.
Ideal
for any occasion, perfect for gift giving or for personal use. We have
a very attractive note card for sale commemorating our 25th anniversary.
The photo on the front depicts our 25th Anniversary quilt, no writing in
the middle – so that you can use them for any purpose – and a short text
description on the back of each card.
